Jill Spencer - b.1952
Statement-
My images celebrate color and ambiguity. I like to take commonplace, neglected, or weather worn objects and transform them into abstract compositions. A photograph with no recognizable subject appears to be at odds with the medium of photography , a medium that is generally viewed as realistic. I try to make photographs that extend beyond their subject; images that are not intended to portray a particular perspective, but rather to permit each viewer to discover his own reality within the composition.

Experience-
Jill Spencer began her study of photography while engaged in a full-time career as an attorney. After several frustrating years of trying to juggle both photography and practicing law, she left her corporate law position to devote more time to her passion for making photographs. Bold color and a strong graphic quality generally characterize her images. Jill lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, an area ripe with photographic potential.
